An Amazing Drive

All of us have a car or two that we'd love to take out for a spin – Ferraris, BMWs, Porsches, or Aston Martins, they'd all be a blast to take cruising through the country. Imagine yourself enjoying the open air in a convertible BMW 6-series, the tight cornering of an Audi R8, or the distinctive luxury of a Mercedes. So do it! Find out what they're like! These cars can all be rented by the day or even half day for $200 to all the way over $2,000. Splurge a little and try something new together!

Drives
So where do you take the perfect car? On a perfect drive naturally! There are amazing drives all over the place, you just have to look around. Some of the more notable ones include:

• Pacific Coast Highway in California
• North Carolina's outer banks
• Along the Coast of Maine
• The Blue Ridge Pkwy from Shenandoah National Park in Virginia to the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina
• Beartooth Road in the Montana Rockies
• Zion National Park, Utah

• Quiet sections of the coastline
• Remote valleys or meadows
• An area with lakes or along a river
• Green, rolling hills
• Nice forests
• Mountains
• Deserts
• Places to see fall leaves or spring blossoms
• Nice, small towns
• Windy roads!

Tell them what you're trying to do and if they can't help you, ask if they know anyone who can.

Food
You're taking an amazing drive with an amazing person, you might as well go all out and plan an amazing meal! This could take the form of a picnic with fun foods like caviar and champagne or a restaurant with a spectacular view that serves something unique to the area. When you've figured out your general destination, search online for picnic spots or restaurants using sites like yelp or chowhound. You can also get great information by calling a town’s visitor center.

What's a drive without good music and good snacks? Bring some of your favorite tunes so that you can share music, or try an audio book if you're already familiar with each other's musical tastes. Pack a small cooler with things that are not messy and can be eaten with your hands or fed to you by your date (oh yeah). Here are a few ideas:

• Grapes, apples, orange wedges
• Beef jerky (the perfect road food)
• Pringles, pretzels, crackers
• Nuts or dried fruit
• Something sweet (you're going to buy it at a rest stop anyway) like hard candy, gum, red vines, gummi bears, candy bars, cookies
• Mixed vegetables
• Water

As I mentioned earlier, cars can be rented for varying times, if you're considering the full-day route, consider staying the night at a local Bed & Breakfast and driving back the next morning.
