Coinstar Date
submitted by RyanMy girlfriend and I are in College, and were both poor for a couple of weeks. We really wanted to go out on a date, so I came up with a really cheap and fun date that ended up being one of our better times together. What you do is you both scour your apartments, cars, etc. for any change that has accumulated over the months. Then you go together to a grocery with a coinstar and cash it all in.
The rules are that you have to spend all of the money you make in one night, and you can't spend any more than that.
Although it sounds a little silly, it's actually really fun. Coinstar money is basically money you wouldn't have ever had otherwise, so it's fun to splurge and not feel guilty about it.
surprise picnic
submitted by TiffanyMy boyfriend drives a cab in the city so i called his company and requested his cab to pick me up. I was dressed as a muslim lady, covered only revealing my eyes.. lol and i had a basket filled with a blanket and goodies. he picked me up and i told him i wanted to go to a local city park i knew of when we arrived i gor up and said "arent you going to join me" and i took off my scarf and he could not believe it was me the whole time! what a nice surprise date!Glow in the dark frisbee
submitted by DanGet a glow in the dark frisbee or paint a regular one with glow in the dark paint and go out to a football field or the beach and play frisbee at night. Wear glow in the dark necklaces to see where the other person is and it also helps to wear a glowing band around your catching wrist to see where your hand is. You could also tape a glow in the dark necklace to the inside of a frisbee but I'm not sure how well that would work. Play frisbee for a while and then watch the stars.Long Distance Movie
submitted by ThereseMy boyfriend and I go to different schools so we can't be together very much. We figured out a way to watch movies together, we both rent the same one and call the other up and hit play at the exact same time. Then we sit and watch a movie together even though we're not. The best are funny ones we have seen before so we can talk and make fun of the characters without ruining it.Random Trip
submitted by KeishawnWe got bored one weekend and decided to put all the nearby towns in a hat and draw a random one to drive to. It was good, we listened to good tunes on the way out and explored the town for a few hours. Found some great bbq.Stop by the visitor center first to find out whats fun or check it online the night before.
Massage w/Rose Petals
submitted by MarkThis is more an idea for anyone dating and intimate or for married couples to spice things up. ;-) OK Guys... massages are king! You need to learn the best you can about these great services you can provide to your significant other. (And ladies don't think men don't like massages!) I was dating a woman, things were going well but it had been a long time since we had been together. She had a really hard day are work and worked long days. I told her to just come by my house after work which was well after dark. I didn't tell her anything else. When she entered my place there was her favorite bottle of wine, perfectly chilled and open with two wine glass, candles no lights. Chocolate spread around the wine glasses and candles. Yes, chocolate does go with wines but you have to be specific. :-) After we had our fill of wine I carried her upstairs into my bedroom. Undressed and laid her on my bed. Lit candles, made an "Oh! I forgot something" gesture, sound leaving the candles going and her undressed waiting for me to return. I ran to the kitchen where I had two large bags of rose pedals chilling in the refridge. Open the bags now in the kitchen so she won't get curious by the sound. You can't get around the fact that the pedals are going to be cold. I ran back to my bedroom where she laid undressed, I asked her to keep her eyes closed. I slowly dropped a few pedals near her face so she could smell the pedals. I increased the rate that I dropped the flowers until all the pedals were around her body with an emphasis around her head so she could smell them. I then used massages oils to give her a full body massage which progressed into other intimate activities. User your imagination. We fell asleep in the rose pedals in each other's arms. Rumor has it she shared this with her co-workers who knew that she was going to come to my house after work for a surprise. She tried to limit the details but her blushing always gives her away. I'm now the home town hero amongst her co-workers.Personal drive in
submitted by NateI am a man who tries to be as creative and original with my dates. One time on a first date I spent the day clearing out the garage and set up the tv and DVD player in the garage. We made popcorn and drinks and pulled the car in the garage, turned it off and just watched a movie on the tv while sitting in the car. It was a lot of fun and a unique way to watch a movie!!"COSMIC" Bowling
submitted by JoshuaThis is a fun date idea. Usually better reserved for a date with someone you already know and want to have some fun with. Requires a local bowling alley that does cosmic bowling nights.PUT THE COSMIC BACK INTO COSMIC BOWLING!
Go to a hardware store and buy some painters jumpsuits and some flourescent spray paint. You and your date use stencils made from paper bags to spray paint designs onto your white jumpsuits. When we did this we went with a space theme and had stars, moons, swirls, and rocketships all over our jumpsuits. When you are done decorating, allow the suits to dry for at least 30 minutes. Have a couple of drinks or some appetizers. When the suits are dry throw them on and head to the local bowling alley's cosmic bowling night.
For an added bonus paint your face with white face paint or glow in the dark paint.
When we did this, we had so much fun! The bowling alley manager even gave us passes for free bowling! We even went out to a club to dance in our outfits after we were done bowling. A little eccentric, but once you let go of your inhibitions and just resolve yourself to a night of silliness... you will never have a more fun time.
Stars
submitted by LeahMy boyfriend and I were away from eachother for our one year anniversary. He was up north working and I was still at home. I still wanted to make the night special. So I called him and told him to go outside. I did too and we star-gazed together. It was a lot of fun because we were looking at the same thing even if we were 6 hours apart. I would recommend this idea to other couples who are in a long distance relationship :)A Night At The Beach
submitted by Kahlenromantic! you and your boyfriend go to a beach during the summmertime at night time, around 9:00 when no one else is there, and run around the beach, go in the ocean/lake(but oceans more romantic for the waves, if you can) and bring a blanket, you might get cold and want to snuggle!Personal Dinner Cruiz (almost free)
submitted by Zanderif you're broke then borrow stuff, i was 17 when I did this and it costed me like 4 bucks maybeBorrow a canoe (large if possible) and an oar and out fit it with 2 patio chairs or stadium seats facing eachother separated and a piece of wood (attatched to canoe and across the middle serving as a table, making a little dinner table for 2. throw blankets in the canoe and stuff like that. Find a small/private lake or pond and launch the canoe all set up for your dinner and tie it up where you and your date can EASILY access it. Go home and pack a bag with your dinner whatever it is, plates, wine/champaign/sparkling cidar, candles, etc. Then throw it in the back and pick her up. I like suprising my girlfriend so I just tell her we're going out and its a surpise. When I pick her up I tell her to put on a blind fold, drive to the canoe, lead her into it, paddle out, light candles, set up dinner and then let her take off blindfold. after you eat u can switch to one side and cuddle or whatever. Moonlight is a plus becuase it can get dark and hard to eat. She really liked it and I maybe have spend 5 bucks with gas. have fun.
Bingo!
submitted by MeganI heard from a friend that bingo nights happen all the time at local bars and restaurants so I found one online (yelp I think) and dragged my husband and another couple we know because I was worried about it being really lame. It was so fun! We go play every few months now and if you go try to find a fun spot because the right crowd makes it so much better.Kindergarten all over!
submitted by AndrewI did this with my now girlfriend on our first date. I picked her up and brought her back to my apt. I had paint and a poster-board.We proceeded to finger paint and it was really fun and excellent time to have fun. Just like kindergarten!
After we were done with our masterpiece we went into the living room and made a fort out of blankets and furniture and we sat up late talking and laughing.
Great ice breaker date and very fun!
Local College Events
submitted by MattMany college have free events that are open to the public! To find these events simply go to a nearby college's website and look in their "event calender" and you will see common free events like free carnavales(free food free rides free entertainment paid for by students tuition and your taxes) also you may see events like outdoor movies (just bring ur blanket!) and indoor movies, as well as bbq's. intersting lectures, open mic/karoke night, concerts and more!Paint fight
submitted by MarkI was bored of watching movies so I came up with this idea. Have a suprise paint fight. Now for this to work you will need to be completly prepared. Here is the list4 buckets of paint (different colors)
A flat sheet, preferably white
Paint stirring sticks
2 pairs of gym shorts or sweats
2 plain white t shirts.
A hat is optional but recommended for girls that care too much about their hair.
So here's the basic overview. Call date and tell her to be ready for an active date and not to wear anything too nice. Pick a safe place to throw paint, I did this at a park until I found that it was vandalism so now i use empty fields. If you can find one with a chainlink fence to hold up the sheet that would be best. Anyways, once there let her put on the shirt and shorts to protect her clothes and start splattering the paint on the sheet.. Slowly turn it into a paint fight and at the end you have individuAlised shirts, shorts, and hat. You can toss the sheet or keep it. Remember to clean up before leaving. This is really fun. I've done this 2 times now and is still extremely entertaining.
Art walk
submitted by gavinMany cities (in my case, Seattle) have one day a month where art studios or museums open up for free. The art studios & galleries opening is called the "art walk". You can see glass blowers, painters, sculptures etc etc. all for free. You and the significant other can have a great time enjoying the art (or making fun if it, if that's your cup of tea). Also, quite often the private studios will open a few bottles of wine and pass it out for free, should you go visit them.
In addition to the studios and galleries museums and aquariums open up on different days of the month for free; you just have to figure out the days of the month. Again, can be very enjoyable, even if you're not there because you really truly enjoy the art or the museum (i can't say i'm a big fan of the history museums ), you can always go and have fun, make fun of things, be mischievous etc.
It really is one of the best times you can have on a date.
Left-Right Game
submitted by Skooby DooThis date is very simple and can be blast with the right person. All you do is get in your car (full tank of gas is recomended) and drive. First time you have to stop for any reason take a left, next time take a right, then a left and so on. It's great if you have something relaxing to roll up and take with you if that's your kind of thing. Burn a couple of CDs with music you both like or make a romantic mix. Have some topics in mind before-hand to lead the conversation. You can set a time when you will try and figure out where you are (if you don't know) and figure out how to get home. I first did this as a date at a time when I was totally broke. It was such a good time though I have done it a few times since even when I had money.Scary Movie Date
submitted by JaclynRent horror movies, turn the lights off, light up candles, candy & popcorn!ice blocking
submitted by brianaGo to your local grocery store, and purchase a block of ice.Retreat to your nearest hill, hopefully its alittle moist (via sprinklers, crappy weathered state)
simply ride the ice blocks down the hill.
Make sure you are wearing clothes and shoes that can get muddy or dirty. and be prepared to get alittle scraped up. its TOO much fun!
Morning Kidnapping
submitted by JustineIf there's one thing I love, it's surprises. So I put the golden rule into effect and planned my boyfriends kidnapping.I kidnapped my boyfriend from his house at 6AM and blindfolded him while I drove to my favorite hiking spot. I unblindfolded him and we started our climb.
At the top of the mountain I had brought along water, apples, crackers and sandwhiches for us to share. We ate as we looked out at the beautiful scenery.
It's been my favorite date so far!
Trivia Night
submitted by LaurieI recently went on a date to trivia night at a bar and it was great! My date knew about this company that hosts games in NYC and DC areas, so we picked a time and place that worked well for us, in a place near where we could get dinner. The game was not only interesting and fun, but we learned a lot about each other in a very natural, easy conversation by talking about how we knew the answers we knew. There is just a default conversation right there, nursing you along the date. Also, they have "Tryst" rounds where groups work together and people socialize around the bar. I was thinking that would be a great way to check out new guys, if you're date isn't going so well. Ya know, for later. Anyway, I've since been back for other dates as it's also an effective way to judge the date's intelligence. So yeah, that's my idea. Hope it helps!Fictional Story
submitted by AlyssaHow about you and your date find a nice bench as the sun is going down (or a campfire if you like) and tell each other stories! They can be mysterious, romantic, scary, humorous, thought-provoking, etc. And the best part is that they can be completely fictional!
This way you can be creative or silly with the person you're with. This will show them that you are open to them about your dreams and thoughts. Also, you can see what types of things interest them, make them laugh, scare them, entice them, or make them scratch their head.
It doesn't have to be lengthy or elaborate, but try to come up with ideas that you never thought of before, or even try to conjure up a story about something that they really enjoy.
Have fun!
